Treatment and Disposal

The GLSL infrastructure and existing facilities for waste management are primarily located in Iganga District, Eastern Uganda. They provide high-temperature incineration, recyclate shredder, storage facilities, a lagoon for tertiary treatment of leachate, a polishing bed, and sanitary landfill capabilities. Our second facility (an autoclave plant located in Mbarara, Western Uganda), employs non-burn technology. We also own and operate various assets in support of licensed waste transportation and logistics.

End waste Criteria

We ensure disposal to finality and according to best environmental practices even for end-waste that GLSL may either not prefer for re-use or repurpose options or has no installed capacity to handle beyond collection. In line with our End Market Policy and Criteria, we have partnered with reputable licensed and approved Off-takers of solid recyclable waste (glass, metal, and plastics) and liquid waste (sewage). We treat the solid waste before handover while liquid waste is transferred directly. Mechanisms are in place to ensure that off-takers comply with laws, regulations, and procedures for managing such waste.

Domestic Waste Management

From the exploration phase to the current oil and development efforts, we have efficiently managed camp waste for our local and international clients. We give peace of mind to our clients to concentrate on their core function by ensuring that domestic waste generated by their large numbers of workers is evacuated in time and according to national and international standards.

Where required, we supply install and maintain relevant equipment such as food compositors. The waste is handled according to Best Environment Practices.
