About the Role

We are recruiting a skilled Vehicle Maintenance Technician to keep our fleet of trucks, tankers, and specialised waste-handling vehicles in peak operational condition. You will perform routine servicing, diagnose faults, and carry out repairs to minimise downtime and ensure every vehicle meets our strict safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake checks, tyre rotations, fluid top-ups) on all fleet vehicles.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults and execute cost-effective repairs.
  • Test vehicles post-repair to confirm roadworthiness before returning to service.
  • Maintain detailed service and repair records for each vehicle in the fleet register.
  • Coordinate with external garages for specialised repairs beyond in-house capability.
  • Inspect and maintain waste-handling attachments, pumps, and tanker systems.
  • Ensure the workshop is kept clean, organised, and stocked with essential spare parts.
  • Report recurring faults or safety concerns to the Fleet & Logistics Officer promptly.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) plus a Trade Certificate or Diploma in Automotive/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience servicing heavy commercial vehicles or tankers.
  • Experience with hydraulic systems and specialised vehicle equipment is an advantage.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and wiring diagrams.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working in a workshop environment.
  • Valid driving permit is an added advantage.
